Mental Fuel Tank

So here is a concept I heard about a while ago that I'd like to get some perspective on. There are some that claim that your mind has a daily fuel tank. Basically that daily stressors and events drain our tank and if we don't do something to reset that tank, our mind can become over encumbered. Now on one hand, I want to be able to debunk that ideology. I do not want to accept that there is some sort of limitation that my mind has. After all, it has been seen and proven that the mind is capable of so much more than we even realize. But on another hand, it has also been proven that personnel in learning environments learn best in 1 hour increments, then their attention span is diminished.  I think that it is potentially a concept that can be put to use to ensure we are constantly acting with maximum mental efficiency if we identify something that acts as a reset button for our minds. For me, I am realizing that if I can spend 30 minutes playing my guitar I feel mentally refre...

Jim

So, here is a question I have never felt the need to ask anyone else? I will accept 200-300 replies over any period of time you feel necessary. If, you were able to enact changes in Jim, with a wave of the wand, knowing what is important to me and what is not. What would you fix? Be clear. Be specific. And provide, if possible a rubrik or syllabus on the way you believe I would be able to accomplish this. If you think it is not important to me but should be...say it, and if possible why. If it is important to me, but holds no real value, say it, and explain if possible. Ready GO!

Clarity of the Mind

So this pretty much just piggie backs off some of the things we talked about on the phone yesterday. Not sure where I want to go with it, but I think it is something that both you and I struggle with. Well, I don't think it is, I KNOW it is. My mind is always going like I know yours is. One concept I think is interesting to address about a go go go mind is the idea of displacement vs distance. In case you don't recall from your physics classes, distance is your total amount traveled. It can be up, down, left, right; but the more you move, the greater distance you have greater, no matter the direction. Displacement is how far you've traveled from a specific point. Let's consider that mental point to be point zero; the point you start at when you first wake up before you've had any thoughts for the day. What I think I struggle with from time to time is that my mind is constantly moving, but on occasion, at the end of the day, I have traveled a great distance but my di...
