Mental Fuel Tank

So here is a concept I heard about a while ago that I'd like to get some perspective on. There are some that claim that your mind has a daily fuel tank. Basically that daily stressors and events drain our tank and if we don't do something to reset that tank, our mind can become over encumbered. Now on one hand, I want to be able to debunk that ideology. I do not want to accept that there is some sort of limitation that my mind has. After all, it has been seen and proven that the mind is capable of so much more than we even realize. But on another hand, it has also been proven that personnel in learning environments learn best in 1 hour increments, then their attention span is diminished.

I think that it is potentially a concept that can be put to use to ensure we are constantly acting with maximum mental efficiency if we identify something that acts as a reset button for our minds. For me, I am realizing that if I can spend 30 minutes playing my guitar I feel mentally refreshed. For some it may be a nap or a full night's rest. Regardless of what it is, I think it is advantageous to identify something that works as our reset button.

  1. I would say if I were to boil it down to a word I would use balance. That has definitely been my experience as well. Strangely it works both ways i think. I have seen both extremes work equally poorly. I know by the time I get home I am "beat" but after some food and sitting a bit I am ready to go again. On the other hand if your mom is inactive all day long she often says she is exhausted. I believe her. On the days she does some stuff she lasts much longer. I think it is the "change" that makes the difference. We look forward to drinking, but the last day of a 96 there is almost no desire to do anything but get back at it. I don't think it is a coincidence that God told is to take a day off every week. I realize you got busy unexpectedly as did i, but I think this concept is a huge part of what I got from "stillness is key" I think it is a great supplement to the other two books because they are "Go" oriented and it is "dont forget slow"...If I remember correctly he even used slow is smooth, smooth if fast, fast is deadly. I think my equation is out of adjustment in the opposite way yours is. I should be doing more and less "relaxing" you for sure could do a little more "relaxing" ( not necessarily drinking) the 🎸 is awesome that you found it!
